Qui un po' di info su mastodon
https://mastodon.help/it
Hi everyone @st5rb0und here!
My main interests are: Digital art/ Pixelart
Gamedev
Videogames (principalmente Nintendo)
Original Character(OCs)
Im currently developing a thief themed little RPG about my ocs in Godot 4.3. I'll be sharing updates here!
I'm back after a comedy of errors for my little Raspberry Pi, where mastodon have lived for a few years.
3 things pretty much happened at the same time. The router that the Pi lives behind, got an update that threw the settings that pointed to the pi out of sync.
Something cause the nginx server to fail to load problery and therefore gave 502 error and other timeouts.
And last but not least the free dns service, I had running pointing to the pi, stopped sending http trafic to the Pi, where telnet, wget and ssh etc happily were pasted onwards when I wanted to play with sudomakecake.ddns.net.
Hence, the update to a VPS and https://sudomakecake.com, since the Pi struggled with updating mastodon and the traffic over wifi. Now its retired to IRC and backup duties which should result in less faff/stress/downtime for me.
Sadly I looks like I have lost access to the old install and therefore can't get my posts or followers and followings in a easy way, so have to build it up manually.
In recent days, Deb Goodkin, Executive Director of the FreeBSD Foundation, returned to the Fediverse via her @dgoodkin@mastodon.social account.
But with my great joy, she has also decided to sit at a table of the BSD Cafe: @dgoodkin.
Welcome back to the Fediverse and to the BSD Cafe!
@Rosaliesmedievalwoman #Welcome to the Fediverse! Such fun to see #medieval #costume pictures on Pixelfed. Looking forward to more!
@medievodons @histodons
@cruscanlan #Welcome and those are some amazing pictures. I hope you find that you enjoy the #Fediverse. There are so many kind people on here and some awesome photographers.
Hi and welcome to the #Fediverse to all #newcomers!
I am Tommi, the administrator of Pan, a tiny, cozy, friendly, #antiFascist,
#transFeminist, and #antiCapitalist instance.
As you are wandering around this whimsical space, I know it might be a bit confusing and hard to figure it out.
Just give yourselves time! This place does not follow the algorithmic rules of mainstream, billionaire-owned, centralized social networks.
Actually, the Fediverse has no rules at all! Every community chooses their own principles and governance. If there is anything you are not comfortable with, you are completely free to move anywhere you want, without losing the people you are in touch with.
If you believe you share the vibe and the values of #Pan (this instance), we would be super happy to welcome you! Just get in touch with me however you want. It is of paramount importance that we all spread around, populating smaller servers, rather than flooding big ones.
Have fun and be excellent to each other!
#Welcome to all the new weirdos who have just joined the fediverse in the past week
We welcome & embrace strangeness here
A song for you fediverse newbies:

I've decided, this time around I won't constantly concern myself with the menace overseas like I did last lime. If there is something I can help with, sure, but if I can't do anything, then my energy is better directed somewhere else.
So I'll concentrate on the good things that arise from it. Like people flocking to the #Fediverse!
There is defenitely something I can do here. I'll do my best to make people feel welcome here. So that its not just a temporary shelter, but a cosy new home for ya'll.
#Welcome to our shared home! How may I be of service?
@PepijnBoeraeve Welcome to the Fediverse, now that you posted your #FirstPost.
Welcome to the Fediverse @gbif.
Cool new server you have there!
I'm not gonna lie, TikTok was never my thing. I also never particularly expected a huge influx to Mastodon following the ban, and it's restoring some amount of [EDIT: I mean, quite a bit of] optimism on my part now that that's apparently happening.
Hi, everyone who's here from TikTok.
Something you'll find different here (and love if you're anything like me), is that the "algorithm" is created directly by everyone who uses this thing. Boosting a post shows it to people who follow you. The more people boost the same post, the more people see it.
Also—and this isn't even aimed at any app specifically—Mastodon, unlike a lot of apps, is really good on mobile AND on desktop according to a lot of people, including me. Please log in to whichever instance you chose to make your account on in a web browser, and try it if you haven't already.
There are also accessibility features here that most other social media either lacks entirely or doesn't do nearly as well. Alt text, for example, is text added to media, that exists primarily for the purpose of describing said media to people who interact with Mastodon using an audio interface. Adding alt text to images is recommended, and posts containing images are likely to get more boosts with alt text than without.
It's also a good idea to write a brief (or not) introduction post and pin it on your profile.
I should probably also mention that I've been looking through #TikTokRefugee and following anyone and everyone who's here from TikTok. So if you're here from TikTok and I just followed you, that's why.
Welcome to Mastodon.
EDIT: well, as of this edit, Orange Man has already exhumed TikTok from the open casket of its own design still breathing, as expected. To everyone who found Mastodon or the larger Fediverse because of the ban, I hope you stick around, regardless of whether or not you decide to return to whence you came. It's awesome here.

I understand the next hours and days will be the peak of the current wave to the Fediverse (unless it causes a tipping point already).
So I want to offer my help to everybody who is new here.
I can help you with:
* finding the right instance (if you're not sure you found it)
* understanding how it all works
* editing your profile and settings
* finding your bubble
* helping others find you
* finding answers to further questions
I can help you by:
* replying publicly
* replying via DM
* videocall & screensharing (one on one or in groups)
* finding others who can answer the questions that I can't
This offer goes to:
* everybody (except trolls)
* not just people on one of our (Fediverse Foundation) instances
* not just people in the climatejustice movement
* not just people using Mastodon (though I don't have experience with all software flavors)
* not even only new people
I speak English and German.
Welcome to the Fediverse @CCLTwinsburg !
If you have any questions or seek guidance, I'm here to help.
